Unique Planes from Ramp to Flight
If you want to see unique planes, visit Black Rock City Municipal Airport! The mini bi-plane SkyBolt did skywriting in 2006 and 2007. The large bi-plane below was, according to Hawk,
… an Antonov AN-2 and the same one as the one that’s painted in tan colors. It’s not experimental in as much as it is an ex- Russian Military aircraft and Lithuanian airliner.
It was originally all in the Lithuanian paint scheme but the other side (only one side) was painted to look like Russian Military, specifically for the Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull movie. The paint was supposed to be removable but wasn’t. Oops!
On the plane with the zebra coat, according to Hawk:
Sikorsky S-38 is a sesquiplane amphibious aircraft called Osa’s Ark, N28V and is a reproduction of the 1920’s aircraft but this one was built in the early 2000s. When it flew to Burning Man it was owned by the CEO of one of the Reno Casinos.
